Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Founded in 1952, the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans serves as a congress for the local Italian-American organizations and a focal point for the local Italian-American community. The JCCIA hosts a Dante Award luncheon honoring members of the media in May, a Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Humanitarian of the Year Awards gala in June, the Columbus Day Queen contest in July, the Columbus Day Parade in October, a Cookie Walk in November and a Christmas party in December. The organization also offers scholarships, spearheads volunteer efforts, donates money to worthy causes, sponsors historical and cultural exhibits and events, fights defamation, provides information to the public, and represents the Chicago-area Italian-American community on the local, state, national and international levels. Annual dues are $100 for organizational members and $30 for individual members. Officers are installed every other year in December, and meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month. The JCCIA has a Women’s Division, West Suburban Women’s Division and Young Professionals Division, all with dues, meetings and events of their own. Offices are located at Casa Italia, 3800 Division St., Stone Park, 60165.
