It seems that everywhere you turn these days, governments, businesses, organizations and individuals are donating their time, talents and funds to Ukraine as it battles valiantly against Russian invaders. Local artist Fillippo Aliperta is doing his part by creating ceramic “heart pins” that portray the American and Ukrainian flags and giving them away at his Glenview hair salon, Estetica. At press time, he had raised $500 in goodwill donations. “I feel that everyone should support the Ukrainian people in every way that they can,” Aliperta says.  

North suburban cosmetologist Filippo Aliperta has been plying his profession for decades, all the while pursuing his passion for the visual arts. The owner of Estetica Hair Design in Glenview, Aliperta is currently showing his work through June at the Northbrook Court shopping center and on an ongoing basis at the LG Gallery in Lake Geneva. “I like doing abstract work in mixed media the best,” Aliperta says. “I love combining paint with stone, metal, etc.” Born in Somma Vesuviana, Italy, Aliperta started painting at an early age and took private lessons in nearby Napoli.   The artwork of Filippo Aliperta will be on display at the Book Market at Hangar One in Glenview through December. Born in Somma Vesuviana near Napoli, Aliperta has been painting since the seventh grade, learning over the years to create paintings in oils, acrylics and pen and ink and sculptures in ceramics, stone, metal and glass. A cosmetologist by profession, he owns Estetica Professional Hair Design in Glenview. He is a member of the Glenview Art League, North Shore Art League and Casa Italia Art League and he has served as president of Associazione Regionale Campania.
